Minoxidil Tips & Patient Guide

Minoxidil is a topical treatment that stimulates hair follicles and increases blood flow to the scalp, promoting hair growth.

1. How to Apply

  • Consistency: Apply it twice a day, every day (e.g., once in the morning and once at night).
  • Dry Scalp: Ensure your scalp and hair are completely dry before applying.
  • Direct to Scalp: Apply the solution or foam directly to the scalp in the areas of hair thinning, not just on the hair itself. Gently massage it in.
  • Wash Hands: Always wash your hands thoroughly after applying.

2. The Shedding Phase

  • Just like Finasteride, Minoxidil can cause a temporary shedding phase during the first 2-4 weeks. Don’t panic! This is normal and means the treatment is working.

3. Results Take Time

  • It can take at least 4 months of twice-daily use to see noticeable results. For the best outcome, it is often combined with oral Finasteride.
