Norethisterone is a synthetic version of the hormone progesterone. It is highly effective at temporarily delaying your period for holidays, weddings, or special events.
1. How and When to Take It
- Timing is Critical: You must start taking the tablets 3 days before your period is due to start. If you start it too late (e.g., the day before or on the day), it will likely not work.
- Dosage: Take one tablet three times a day.
- Duration: You can take the tablets for a maximum of 14 days, delaying your period by up to 17 days in total.
2. What Happens When You Stop?
- Once you stop taking the tablets, your period should arrive within 2 to 3 days.
3. Important Notes
- Not a Contraceptive: Norethisterone does not act as a contraceptive. You must still use other forms of contraception (like condoms) if you wish to prevent pregnancy.
- Side Effects: Some women may experience bloating, breast tenderness, or nausea while taking the tablets. If you experience severe headaches or vision changes, stop taking it immediately and seek medical advice.
